Meta Invests $1B in AI Hub

Meta is committing over US$1 billion to build a 700,000 sq. ft. data center in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, supporting its long-term AI ambitions and infrastructure expansion across the U.S.

Project Details. The facility will open in 2027, creating about 100 full-time jobs and anchoring Meta’s regional AI capacity.

Energy Investment. Meta will fund US$200 million in local grid infrastructure with Alliant Energy, including new transmission lines and upgrades.

National Footprint. Similar AI-focused data centers are underway in Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana, part of a US$600 billion domestic investment plan through 2028.

Strategic Context. The project aligns with Meta’s push toward AI superintelligence, front-loading computing and energy resources to stay competitive with peers like OpenAI and Google.

If timelines hold, Meta’s Wisconsin data center could become a cornerstone of the company’s next-gen AI ecosystem, linking local energy modernization with global-scale AI infrastructure.
